Hi,
I'm no scientist, but as a herper I've seen so called nocturnal geckos spend 
an awful lot of time moving around in daylight. 
I had some U sikorae that "hid" all day long out in the open. Not in direct 
sun, but certainly in the light.
Some people feel it is a waste of money getting uv bulbs for nocturnals, but 
I feel its part of the animals natural environment.
