I think it is really bad nobody answered your questions.
Calcium Lactate is not the same as carbonate, but your local drugstore is
correct about the Calcium Carbonate; it is an excelent calcium source.
Depending on the gecko species kept there are diferent ways to make it
palatable for your geckos. Dusting your feeding insects is one that works
for all species and if you are keeping arboreal species you can mix it in a
fruit or other sweet paste (works very well with daygeckos). Calcium
Carbonate is tasteless to the animals and can not be overdosed but the more
you add the less palatable the food becomes because it is too neutral.
