Hi Laurie,

Sorry if this has already been answered - a little behind this weekend :)

I'm wondering if it's

Hmmm, that might do it - that is a little cool for a leo.

 Even though the

I won't yell at you :) - but they really can give you more heartaches
(injuries, etc) than they're worth. You can try the clamp on lights
available at Home Depot, Lowes, etc, and a regular household bulb. I don't
recall what size tank you have, but play around with bulb sizes till you get
the hot spot you want, say 85-90F. Believe it or not, my male actually
basks. He loves to sit under the light!

The thermometer I put on top of the rock

I think that is a big uh-oh sign - something may really be wrong with that
rock. Try ditching the hot rocks, and going with the lights on all the
tanks, but be careful not to toast them too much with the UTH as well. A
pile of rocks, be it slate or 'garden variety' rocks will make them happy.
Just make sure to glue them well if you're making any type of caves; they
can easily knock them over and.......I won't say it.
