I have several times used something similar.
I mediumsized petbox baited with nice papaya and a branch to rest on after dinner.
A small woddenstick keeps the lid open and from it to the doorhandle to the gekkoroom
a rope.Everytime you enter the room the trap goes shut.Hopefully with the gekko inside.
