Hi Don,
And gongrats regarding your P.cepedianas. All
these three species are exclusivly
given liquid food during there time in
captivity("and are also according to the breeder
raised on this and nothing else from hatch to
adult"),before shipped to ex. US.This
have given a lot of people (excluding you) minor
to big problems to get them started
on crickets, for instance. One factor that might
result in the animales lack of intrest for
insects might (in my opinion) be the amount of
stress ,the feederinsects in the terrarium,
add to an allready severely stressed animal.I guess most of us into Phelsumas have or
have had animales from this sourse. It would be interesting to know there experiences in
these animales.I
have these animales and there offspring from P.ornata
ornata,P.guimbeaui
guimbeaui and P.cepediana, and the differences in
both collors and mainly behavior between
the adults and the now grown offspring is
remarkable.
As an end of this, I only ment that I would
never recomend these animales to someone not very
experienced in Phelsumas.
Sincerely
Magnus

I would really like to make some sense of all this. Why would an animal
thats
been raised in nature and learned to eat insects then transferred to
captivity and a differnt but still somewhat natural part of its diet, not
eat
insects again when given them? This makes no sense to me!I have
animals from
this source and they eat insects just fine. I dont find them
any less
resistant to stress then any other cepedianas over the years ?
They do have
parasistic worms as well as Coccidia.
