Do you believe that the very existence of this list, that has "provided a
healthier, happier existence" for your animals, was donated by some
warm-hearted ISP? The 30 bucks from the pockets of those who feel
important would not even put a dent in the start up fees associated with
the list-serv and website. 30 bucks will barely get me to get up off butt
to do anything, let alone donate a year's time required to run this
organization.
Chuck mentioned his opinions are his and his alone. He also mentioned that
his dollars support the GGA, and if those who were not members added theirs
= think of the possibilities.

The answer: you'd have a bunch of rookies running around killing geckos. I
can't say that anyone on this list has directly saved the life of any of my
animals, but their information has surely provided a healthier, happier
existence for them. No one is twisting your arm to share your pricless
information. As you mentioned, you are free to use your private email...
If I'm not mistaken, the mission statement of GGA has something to do with
disseminating info on geckos, not becoming a cash cow.
And, incidentally, I was a paying member last year, but after pulling teeth
to get the various journals mailed out to me, I decided to skip this year,
see how things go...
(making me a GGA freeloader!)
Anyway, no offense intended, but I have a soapbox, too. :)
