Good questions about moving across state lines with herps. Some states have
laws about that. For example... I had to get a State of Connecticut
Importers permit when I moved here from Ohio. This is a law where-by only
(!!) species on a pre-approved list can come into the state. Anything else
can be petitioned and the one guy at the State office who reviews things can
determine if it's okay or not... So... I petitioned a bunch of things, all
got put on the list (many with typographical errors on the taxon though).
The law is antiquated and there are several folks pushing to have it
flipped... so that it is a list of what CANNOT come into the state..
Otherwise, we'll just have to petition for each and every one of the
10,000+/- herp species to be added to the pre-approved list... one at a
time. That oughta slow down the machine. ;-)
In any case, you should check the laws for the state you are going TO to
make sure. Probably nothing... but you never know.
