Mass has some very difficult laws to navigate. some things, like ALL
chameleons, are out right off the bat, CB or otherwise (unless that has
recently changed... seems that New England Herp was working hard to get CB
animals excluded from that law). I do remember though that many of the
local pet stores near Boston sell all kinds of things that are prohibited by
Mass Law. Just as almost ALL pet stores in CT have species that are not on
the list of species pre-approved for import. Unless they spontaneously
generated in the pet store they were illegally brought into the state.

On a slightly different note, but still relevant. The list of pre-approved
species for CT has many entries where the scientific name is just something
like "iguanid" or "hemidactylus"... and often spelled wrong. From that, it
would seem that ANY iguanid would be legal to bring in.. I mean... all you'd
have to say is that "this Cyclura is an iguanid... and that's on the list as
pre-approved." Even if the common name was different. The State is aware
of the problems though, but seems understaffed to fix it. On the plus side
though, they also recognize that to enforce the law would be nearly
impossible. Which is why we may succeed in getting it to be just a list of
what is banned from import. easier to enforce that way.

crazy things.
