I am the one with the day gecko having a shedding problem a week or so ago.
I posted asking if I should help--the vote was yes, and I did. Now to
find the problem...
I did find my humidity guage--humidity is hovering between 60-70% (more
stable than in my henkeli tank :-(
Moreover, Freckles, the mate of the one with the problem, shed several days
later--entire skin came off in nearly one piece in a few hours (and
disappeared completely--I guess he ate it!).
One thing I had noticed about Verdi (the one with the problem) was that,
for lack of a better discription, she looked more wrinkly than usual--like
her skin didn't fit tight; not necesarily skinny looking, just looked like
her dress size was smaller than her skin! I had in fact noticed that for a
week or two before the particularly problematic molt. Does that make any
sort of sense to anyone? Could it be related?
She looks less wrinkly now, which I guess is good? Still not quite as
vibrant looking as her mate, but she looks better. Only changes I have
made is to make myself be more consistent about misting in the morning
(well, 10-11 ish) and have given baby food more frequently, with some
NutriCal mixed in. I left the one egg she had laid in with them--it looked
infertile, and I think one of them ate most of it (I think ya'll have
mentioned they will do that with infertile eggs? I thought if it was a
calcium problem it might help).
How often do grandis shed anyway? Just want to know how long before I'll
know if things have improved any.
