What i would do is house the leopard gecko on moistened paper towel. When the gecko produces, fold the paper towel up and place in zip lock bag and put in the refrigerator until you can get it to a vet. The sooner you get it there the better. Even if it is not a lot of stool they should still be able to do a direct smear or acid fast. I can run both tests off very little stool.

How should i get a fecal sample if most of the time they defecate runny useless stools? Very seldom do they defecate something hard that may be useful.
What would you do in this instance? Because i will more than gladly take another sample in, but that's if a good one ever becomes available.
