I have never heard of this happening, and I have all of our clients bring samples in that are wrapped in damp paper towel, that is unless I can get a sample straight from the vent. ;>. I see lots of parasites in the samples I examine. I have even had people bring in fecal samples in zip lock bags of water. I find parasites just fine. The only problems I have experienced are when people bring in desiccated samples. If i get a dry sample, I just won't run it. Why waste the clients money.

That was the method i used to take in a few of the fecal samples, however the vet told me that it wasn't the best way to. She said that by me placing the sample on moist paper towel that the wetness actually makes the eggs explode, therefore making the test come back negative, which would not be accurate. She told me to put the sample in a plastic container next time just by itself and place it in the fridge.
Is this true about the wetness making eggs explode?
