Well working at a vets office, we often have to look up species of
animals, and tell people how to care for them. Here in California stores
are required to give a care sheet out with the animal they sell. That is
all that they are requiredto do. Often the handouts are very limited or
have misinformation in them. 
        I am not sure that a reply like this one from Julie, is really going to
make a difference. There is always someone out there that is going to see a
cute little gecko and buy it on impulse. As gecko enthusiasts, I think it
is best if we can encourage people to ask questions about gecko care, and
help make gecko keeping fun. If we fail to help provide information to
novice gecko keepers, it is going to be the gecko that suffers.
