I'm sure it's not a house gecko...it has little claws like terrestrial geckos (if i'm using that correctly)... movable eyelids, etc. It looks just like a tiny leopard, but even smaller than I've seen pictures of hatchlings. He seems to be doing great so far- thanks again!!

There are at least two non-native geckos that have become established in
Texas: the Turkish or Mediterranean house gecko (Hemidactylus turcicus)
and a little middle eastern gecko without a standard common name, Cyrtopodion
scaber, formerly Cyrtodactylus scabrum.. If I've got the Latin names wrong,
I hope somebody will correct me!
If your gecko doesn't have moveable eyelids, it isn't a Texas banded gecko. If it can climb vertical smooth surfaces, like glass, it's probably a Turkish house gecko. Otherwise, it's likely C.scaber.
There are probably pictures of these geckos on the GGA website (www.gekota.com). Let us know what you figure out.
