rest of the post. Indeed, C. brevis is found from Uvalde county (about 1
1/2 hour drive west of San Antonio) to New Mexico and south into Mexico.
If the gecko was found in Dallas, it has to be H. turcicus. As Jon
mentioned, they are relatively common in the DFW area. A picture of the
gecko would definitely help out. C. brevis lives in semi-arid to arid
regions.

I hate to be the fly in the ointment here, but the Texas Banded
Gecko does
not
live within even a 3 hour driving distance of the Dallas
area. Secondly,
Texas
banded geckos have very exacting
requirements in nature, and one that is not
easily duplicated inside of an
office builidng. Thirdly, all Hemidactylus
have claws
- with even
some non-US species being terrestrial in habits. Lastly, IF
you
do
in fact have Coleonyx brevis (from an office building in the
Dallas area),
rest
assured that the animal was an escaped specimen from
someone's terrarium
within a few hundred feet - highly unlikely, but I
guess anything is
possible. I
should also add that presently there
are no known waif species of
Eublepharine
geckos anywhere in the world -
but, who knows? Perhaps you've unearthed
some relic Coleonyx
population in the Dallas metro area:-)
Hemidactylus turcicus is very
well established in the Dallas area, with
animals
routinely found all
over the metro area, in a number of environmental
conditions.
Is
your animal capable of climbing glass or walls?
