I'm not all too sure if I'd be enthusiastic about a "Nemo" type movie with iguana's as the lead roles. Sure, I'd like to see it, I'm sure it would be massively entertaining...but the other side of me (the realist side) knows what may and probably would follow if that movie came out.
With the "Nemo" movie (which I did see and found hilarious), people rushed out to get their pleading kids fish. Countless clownfish died because people had no clue the requirements of a saltwater tank.
The "Tetra" company sure didn't help prevent misinformation being passed around, they even did a promotion and seminar on TV about salt water tanks. And slammed heavily incompatible fish in a 5 gallon bow front which is hardly enough space for a small goby to live in (Translating what they did on TV into reptile terms, the reptile equivalent would bethey grabbed a 10 gallon tank(though they took a 5) and slammed a bearded dragon, an iguana, day geckos, leaf tail geckos and a couple of scorpions in a bare bottom tank with cow figurines as hiding spots).
I'll see if I can try to find the link to the online video clip of the show they did, but even then, unless you know about saltwater fish you probably won't see the every bit of misinformation they gave out in that..
Whoa I'm ranting. Just be glad you didn't see the e-mail I wrote the company after seeing that....
For the parents who couldn't afford the 15 dollar clown fish and it's hundred + dollar setup...goldfish were taken instead. Tossed into anything that held water, and died soon after.
I'd hate to think of what would happen if an iguana craze hit us. It's not like the iguana situation isn't bad enough as it is....
Perhaps if they put a warning at the beginning and end of the film....
But then again, how often do we listen to warning signs?
