Chip,It's sad to know that a brand name which many people depend on to be providing them with the right stuff for their prized pets...would know crap all about what they are doing.Since we're all herpers here, I'm sure you can all figure out what's wrong with the reptile part of that. For non fish people on this list, I doubt you thought 7 fish in a 150 gallon is a big deal...you probably think it's nothing. Each of those 7 fish gets around a foot long (some even larger). And we aren't talking thin narrow sticks here, were talking chunky thick and tall beasts. These are some of the massive fish you see in those huge predator tanks at the zoo's...(Oscars are a huge South American Cichlid)So you've got at least 7 feet of fish length wise in a tank that's only about 6 feet long. And if they took a 150 gallon long tank, the fish can't even turn comfortably...so...it's probably a 150 wide...so...it's a 5 foot long tank these guys have to spin around each other. It's the equivalent of throwing 6 male adult german giant bearded dragons in a 50 gallon tank and saying "Have fun".Not only do these fish need tons of room to move...they are aggressive ..so the stress level in that tank would be high...and the amount of waste one or two of those fish produces would make that tank pretty darn gross in a short period of time (and man do those fish have MASSIVE stools...). So unless they've got a bunch of huge canister filters on that tank and changing 25% of the water every other day and gravel vacuuming a couple times a week...that tanks having severe issues. They definitely wont live the 15 + years they can usually potentially attain.Oscars are cute when they are small...impressive when they are big....but man do they ever take up a lot of work....hence why I am content at only observing my "puppy dog" fish from afar.(Puppy dog because they're constantly begging for food and big enough to pet.)Oscar Photo: http://www.malawicichlidhomepage.com/other/oscar.jpg
Oh well, I'm sure their 'display tanks' wow those who don't know what's going on.
I ranted, but then I always do, and I just don't like that company.
