The research on crypto is out there but be ready for a lot of medical articles. :-) If you know somebody with a copy of Reptile Medicine and Surgery (edited by Mader), it has a whole chapter on it (it's a little old but the info is pretty good). Also try searching the web for articles by Michael R. Cranfield, he did a lot of research on crypto.
The only reason I mentioned it is that we found a lot of crypto in leopard geckos both on fecal samples and on stomach tissue smears. Most of them died extremely thin, similar to your little guy. Of course the extreme emaciation could have been caused by dozens of other things but like you and I both said, better to be safe than sorry.
I'll search through my books and see if I can come up with any other references for you.

-Thanks so much! After hearing that I will definitely get rid of the
cage =
furniture, and clean the tank with ammonia. Better safe than sorry
IMHO. =
Actually, does anyone know where I might find some information on =
crypto? I've tried searching, but turned up nothing so far, and I'm =
interested in finding out more about it. Any information would be =
appreciated.
Thanks again, Chris, for the warning!
