Claire: Hearing all that your tokay is going through, I just had a hard time even thinking about replying as the tokay sounds to be in such bad shape. I feel that it may not last very long at all.
I hope that you can get your tokay to a vet ASAP, should it have survived the night. What may be important is to review all your husbandry practices to keep this from happening again. Was the tokay quarantined? Was it inspected for external parasites or checked for internal parasites? Did it come in contact with another sick gecko? Is the nutritional schedule for the tokay correct? What is the heat, light, humidity schedule? Those and other factors may have (or have not) contributed to the health outcome of the tokay.
