Hi Julie!

Thanks for the info. I'll see what I can do about getting her tested.
Good deal. Then you can develop a treatment plan. Right now you don't know what is going on. Could be something as treatable as a big pinworm infestation or as bad as crypto. Fecal testing will reveal the answer! Regurging food is a sign of crypto, however, it is also a sign of a major stressor for many problems in geckos.

Luckily, Na'Toth and Sadie have been living in separate enclosures except
for a brief period after Sadie's initial quarantine. Na'Toth turned out to
be a bully and wouldn't let Sadie eat, so we got her her own "house". :-)

Great! Let us know how it goes!

Diane,

I am sure Leann will step in, I have been gone for the past three days
and am just getting caught up on e-mail! Even if you do not have an
non-domestic vet locally some will do phone consults for a fee.
http://www.arav.com/USMembers.htm is a great place to find non-domestic
vets. These are very seriously interested vets (and some laypeople with
lots of reptile and amphibian experience) who pay a good chunk of change
yearly to be members. They also get an excellent journal (forget the
name right now) as members so they are educated by each other on cutting
edge medical news. Try there first!

Additionally, any vet can test for parasites. They will either do it
with your gecko's fecal sample on site or send it out to a lab. Just
contact the local vet to find out how they would like you to do it. Be
sure to ask for the crypto test, that is not normally included. Once
you have an id on a parasite a phone consult will be a lot more useful.

Best of luck, and I am glad Sadie is doing well. If Sadie was exposed to
this gecko she will need treatment also.

Thanks so much, Leann for your posts. It appears from what you're saying
that even if the vet were to verify that she has Crypto, there isn't much
the vet could give her to help that I could only get from him. Would
there
be anything wrong with my treating her under the assumption that's what
she has (as you described below)? What foods would you recommend?

Diane

The huge abdominal mass is yet another symptom of Crypto. In geckos,
Pepto-Bismol (yep, its exactly what you think that is) has helped with
the
swelling. It provids relief to the intestinal and stomach pain, often
allowing them to eat without regurgitating. Again, this was tested on
geckos with Crypto.
