Unresolved as yet, but I don't think that precludes us shipping them. I'll see whether they can be re-licensed under GPL. As I understood, Tomaz wouldn't mind, but that icons are based from a Tango template which was CC-SA-A. My application icons are based on Tomaz's bits (not copying the Tango base which was CC-SA-A), so with Tomaz's permission, they should be ok under GPL2. (My base was the gedit icon, which is GPL2). > >I've started, by re-using the old "geda" subdir name, for a package of > >things which belong to the whole suite. > > > > No objections, but with the following pre-conditions: > > 1) debian allows the reuse of a package name, > 2) it would be possible to reuse the geda package name for > a front-end, should a suitable replacement ever materialize, > and If you want the gEDA name for some master utility, we could just make a "geda-common" or something like that. I was just thinking to use "geda", since Debian and perhaps others already use this as a meta-package to pull the whole suite in. I didn't really want to add the bloat of yet another tarball to download and build for everyone. > 3) all content is properly licensed under the GPL. I've sent a request to the author of the underlying text-x-generic icon. If he can't / won't license it under GPL2, we can probably (with Tomaz's permission) make something with Tomaz's modifications and a stock Gnome icon, which would be LGPL. > [snip] > >Should I just stick the mime-types in libgeda, (they'll end up > >installing with libgeda-common on a debian box), or should I make a > >"geda" package? > > Please check with Hamish and get his two cents. In the mean time, getting this all to work "properly" is fun. (intltool translated .desktop and mime .xml files, install locations for icons to scale correctly, special places for home-directory only installs etc..) Best wishes.
