I guess, gnucap suppport would gain momentum if there were an almost trivial way to do a simulation starting from gschem. Something along the lines of: 1) add special predefined source and probe symbols from the library 2) edit the attributes of the symbols 3) select the part of the circuit that needs to be simulated 4) Choose a menu item to export selection gnucap readable format 5) run gnucap on this file and automagically get a get a waveform display. This is still not as intuitive as the ltspice/swichtercad application, where I can poke around in the already simulated circuit. But it would be close enough to make me avoid double schematic capture in gschem and in ltspice. As long as there is no infrastructure like sketched above, I need to stick with ltspice to get the job done. I know, that the ltspice approach might not be flexible enough to adapt to complex problems. Yet, my simulation needs are simple. At the moment using gnucap and ngspice for that matter, with gschem needs too much care and feeding to get me started.
