I've added the original patch to my git repo:

My version has the following differences:
* I'm using some more rules to guess the right direction when starting
  to draw. (a pin is more important than a net, ...)
* I'm not toggling the net direction if there's no uniq direction.
* the net routing is configurable in the rc files (ON/OFF)
