I'll suggest some items here as a don't have the writing ability to
correctly integrate them into the wiki page. Things I'd like to see:

* Improved support for transmission lines (impedance controlled
dimensions, slotlines, coplanar waveguides, differential lines, mitred
bends, etc.). For an overview and detailed coverage have a look at [1,
2].

* Thermals on pads (or traces which can connect to ground plans with out
a via an thermal). Blind/buried vias.

* Complex pads and elements (closed polylines, grouped screen clearance,
plated slots, textured screen, etc.). Transformable references to
embedded/external elements.

Having worked on a footprint creation tool [3], I realised that the
issue is more to do with a lack of easily modifiable template library
then the quality of the design tool. Also the huge issue with not being
able to share the results with/between kicad or other layout tools.
Maybe this should be separate project; but we need to develop a suitable
suitable interchange file format, which represents the physical
component; add a suitable GUI editor; and plugin converters which
understand IPC-7351 and the local/manufacture requirements to produce
the footprint.

Some of these would be too involved for this SOW, but it might be
possible to help lay the groundwork for these as projects/tasks for next
years Google Summer Of Code?
