Some texts come from Exiv2 and must be translated there.
I did not notice any untranslated texts in geeqie itself.

The README is no longer needed for hotkeys, the only remaining use is for the
release notes. I am not sure if it is that important.

I agree.

Can you please describe how it would work?

Feel free to change the English string if it is hard to translate.

The checkbox indicates the "Hidden" flag from the desktop file. It can be
changed by editing the file. Maybe we could replace the checkbox with
something else.

The template is not enough?

All correctly installed desktop files are found automatically. Do we need
anything else?

Feel free to change it ;)

Not writable desktop file is cloned and saved to user writable directory. Then
it overrides the original. I think that it works OK, but maybe it needs to be
documented somewhere.

Do you have an idea how to implement it with GTK? The current sidebar is the
best I was able to do. I had many problems with various GTK bugs or
"features".

Collections will have to be rewritten after 1.0.

I would wait for clutter backend before any other panview changes, unless the
fix is trivial.
