On my older machine, I have paths in ~/.gqview/metadata/... dating back to 
April, 2007, which is long before I had ever heard of geeqie.  If we're going 
to 
support migrating that data over, it seems like a no-brainer to support 
migration from ~/.geeqie/metadata/... as well.

Furthermore, not supporting alphas makes sense in theory.  In practice, though, 
we're talking about all the metadata that geeqie (not gqview) users may have 
collected in the past _year_ — my oldest metadata file in .geeqie is dated June 
18, 200_8_.  Some sort of migration script might work, but pretending that this 
entire year didn't happen is not a very viable option.

I had no problems with the metadata format; the problem was the location.  When 
I moved the metadata from ~/.geeqie/metadata... to 
~/.local/share/geeqie/metadata/..., everything started working properly again.
