Hi all,
We are really keen to adopt gcc 4.7 as a minimum requirement, thus enabling the
following c++11 features:
1. Explicit virtual overrides
2. Non-static data member initializers
3. Template aliases
4. Delegating constructors
Switching to gcc 4.7 would also allow us to finally transition from --std=c++0x
to --std=c++11.
All major distros are shipping with gcc >= 4.7, also for LTS releases. The
potential challenge is RHE6 and its derivatives (and perhaps even the odd Ubuntu
12.04 installation).
Any major objections? Thoughts?
Seems fine to me. GCC 4.7 has been around for three years and we made a
similar switch last year as well. Do we need to bump clang as well?
