Thomas, I have a MXL 990 Mic into a Alesis Multi-mix 8 USB board. The problem I am having is - in order to get rid of the clipping and popping I must turn down the input into the computer so low that it is unbalanced with the music levels.
I was wondering how much, if any affect, getting a better sound card would help. The computer has a stupid RealTek built into it. I just do not understand enough of the audio processing in SAm to know if the mic audio even is processed at all by the soundcard. I just thought if I got a better card, I could turn off the Realtek and hopefully get a better audio level from the mic and mixer I have now.
