I've got word today that Cox will begin "terminating in groups" those accounts still hanging onto static IPs or old IPs on the 24. network. The entire network will be cut over on the 28th, officially, but there will be random and unannounced terminations of groups of old accounts between now and then.
The sad part is that I've tried THREE separate times to get a dynamic IP from them, and their server has never responded. I've already put in a request for their $59.95 business account: static IP, 1.5M down, 256K up, permission to run services and even commercially host without selling connectivity itself, no monitoring software on my desktop or my "Control Panel", a few techs who speak Unix. I've also warned them that all hell will pay for it if they cut me off when I **CAN'T** get a dynamic IP to comply with their own warnings. If you've got anything intelligent to say and want an intelligent person to say it to, dial 615-2000 and talk to the business services dept. They've been good stuff for me since the beginning of this whole thing. Tell them John Beamon sent you if you're the kind of person who passes referrals along so friends can get free stuff. -- -j P.S.
