I was under the impression that NetHack was still a single-player game. Now, Mangband (http://www.mangband.org), the multi-player network Angband is available for linux, but roguelike games are an acquired taste. They're plenty fun once you get into them, but ye olde Curses interface doesnt impress the masses like Quake III. (I just cant play them with the graphical tiles, even with the 16x16's you cant tell what you're up against) For those who arent aware, Angband (and it's many many variants), and NetHack are generally referred to as "Roguelike games", being descendents of Rogue and Mines of Moria. They are Dungeons and Dragons-style games, usually using a Curses interface (now with color capabilities - though there's now graphical tiles and GUI frontends). The computer generates random (but reasonably well- formed) dungeons and wilderness areas -- and you do what most D&D players do: fight monsters, win gold and experience points, buy or find magic items in an endless cycle of equipment upgrades, go on quests for more powerful items, etc. -- Mark Orr [EMAIL PROTECTED] ================================================ BRLUG - The Baton Rouge Linux User Group Visit http://www.brlug.net for more information.
