We've been toying around with several 70cm antenna designs over here 
(2.4ghz).  I have a couple of RP-TNC - N cables made up and have build a 
co-linear omni.  The down side of do-it-yourself is that to tune the 
antenna's, the adjustments are in the mm range.  Also, if you build an 
antenna that has a high SWR value (the TX signal is being reflected back to 
the transmitter and not being absorbed by the antenna, transmitted) you can 
blow up your transmitter.

That's been keeping us grounded here on this end.  Waiting to purchase a 
2.4Ghz SWR meter then we can proceed safely.
