buildings communicate with each other would be to buy two stand-alone media
converters (if the fiber is terminated with the round barrel like connectors
then you want a media converter with ST connectors), then you would just run
a cat-5 patch cable from the media converters RJ-45 port to a switch port.
The media converter will probably have external switches to configure it for
10 or 100 and half or full.  I think this is the least expensive route.
However, if you already have a Cisco switch with built-in fiber ports or a
chassis with a fiber blade then you won't need the media converters.  Lots
of ways of meeting the same end.  Let me know if you need more info to just
a better description of the above.
