Mat:
What sound card are you using? you should be able to go into the
multimeidia/audio/sound section, one of those, i'm a BSD user, and just
select your sound card. If you have a SB Live!, Live! 5.1, or Audigy
Live, you need to select the EMU10K1 driver.
Hope that helps some, i'm sure you browsed the right section, but i can
tell you this, if it worked before you rebuilt the kernel, it will work
if you get the right options. If you have to , you might want to pop
open your box, and just read the model number of the chipset on your
sound card - then go from there.
