What are you looking at for shared storage? The client I was working with forced us to use a NAS for the database files, and good lord, if the equipment doesn't support efficient block level access then stay away. I personally can't get enough of local disks. I like to keep the database on the local disk and also to keep synchronized with my database server peers. Kind of tricky though unless you really plan ahead.
