I second (third?) everything said...  I'll also add that StarOffice has 
better fonts support... perhaps by including some MS-licensed fonts?
Doug I'm pretty sure the missing bullets thing is a font issue... try in 
Star Office and i bet it works.  And Star Office includes an Access-type 
database app (i forget what it's called) that i don't think is in 
OpenOffice.

Also Star Office is free (as in beer) for education...  SLU acquired a 
site license at no charge, we just had to buy the media.
