Depends on what is meant by "the market".  For instance, you may need 20 
Windows servers to do what 1 big IBM or Sun unix box could do.  That means 
Microsoft shipped 20 times as many licenses as IBM/Sun.... does that mean 
Microsoft owns the market?  Certainly not... but if you listened to 
Microsoft FUD, then that is the case....

Or if you wanna count revenue, i guarantee those 20 Windows server 
licenses cost a hell of a lot more than the one copy of AIX or Solaris.  
(we're not talking hardware costs here...).  So does Microsoft own the 
market now?  I still don't think so....

It's impossible to compare apples to oranges, but MS marketing has made a
science of it, and have done a great job making themselves look good.  
It's funny how when we're talking TCO (total cost of ownership), MS comes
in lower.  But when talking revenue/market share, MS comes in higher...
