I've recently noticed in the last couple of weeks that my WinXP laptop is getting unstable as well, and is forcing me to consider a complete restore as I cannot identify any particular source of the problem due to Windows's closed nature. Also, a work colleague is convinced that a recent patch broke some installed software and I have no reason to doubt him. I've read of such occurrences but haven't experienced it myself. John Hebert
