sigh.... We have an official ban on Mac stuff. You have to get special permission from the "big boss" to spend LIGO money on ANY mac stuff. It is pretty unfortunate since the mac stuff is really good. The directorate does not want us to have to support 14 million different platforms for the users. We have standardized on Solaris and Windows. They are forced into allowing us to run Linux for many things. An example of this is my 4 TB file server. It cost us $10k, the equivelent from Sun would have been >$80k.
