FYI in relation to the Universities: I went to our NSF Review Board meeting and the Head guy actually said why didn't we have the CD we wanted to put out afterall M$ Word is all we needed for our program's CD because everyone has word. Two pages of a Word document on a CD for a program presentaion! Crap in, Crap out. To know how bad things are in the education dept, just look at the people in charge.
The ONLY one person to complain about a posting of Mat's ULOSLUG was in the ULL IT dept. And the only flyer I saw vandalized was in the BSAT building. Thank god for the few in CMPS. I hope to be out of here by Feb. ----- Original Message ----- From: "will hill" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, November 07, 2003 12:09 PM Subject: Re: [brlug-general] No free software at LSU? > The M$ rep at the ACM OS shout off a few weeks promised that there would be no further restrictions for the no cost software M$ was going to provide CS students at LSU. He claimed that they would simply be bound by the (already unacceptable) EULAs M$ wants to foist on everyone. This should especially be true in the fiercely competitive world of software. If M$ has pulled this on LSU, the people who got suckered should hang their heads in shame. > > So, is this silly restriction on superior software campus wide? Has someone really sold LSU's soul to Redmond? Are all LSU accademic, health center, library and traffic records now open to Back Orifice and Microsoft's infamous desktop? > > _______________________________________________ > General mailing list > [email protected] > http://brlug.net/mailman/listinfo/general_brlug.net >
