That fact that you can ssh to other machines only matters if the firewall 
rules state that "this network scope over here is allowed to talk with this 
other network over here using these specific ports.....however if the rules 
are more granular and instead state that "these specific hosts on this 
network are allowed to talk to these specific hosts over here using these 
specific ports" could cause the problem if they changed the rule and denied 
access to the specific machine you are talking to......you would be able to 
connect to other machines in which the access has not specifically been 
denied but not to the host that you are trying to get to.  Wow, what a 
mouthful that was!!!
