Did you get a chance to follow through with Scott's suggestions? He had the
best list for troubleshooting.

Just see if ssh is connecting at all. Use ssh -v from the client, telnet
server 22 (or whatever your port is), and also be sure to view a list of
connections and connection states using netstat on the server while doing
this. If you run the ssh and don't see anything show up in netstat then the
client is never even touching the server.
