I guess I am under the assumption that the host should not be blocked because there is no apparet reason why outgoing connections to that host should be blocked. I will have to talk to the owner of this place to see if that is the case. This is a place called Cafe Cottage around Lafayette University. I know they use Cox and probably most students as well. It is possible that they had problems with students playing with the network and causing problems and it is cox itself who has done this.
This would be terrible. I do lots of work from that place and drink beer at the same time. It is like my office:-) Although I can still access the machines with some other network in the middle Thanks On Saturday 06 December 2003 06:41 pm, Challison wrote: > That fact that you can ssh to other machines only matters if the firewall > rules state that "this network scope over here is allowed to talk with this > other network over here using these specific ports.....however if the rules > are more granular and instead state that "these specific hosts on this > network are allowed to talk to these specific hosts over here using these > specific ports" could cause the problem if they changed the rule and denied > access to the specific machine you are talking to......you would be able to > connect to other machines in which the access has not specifically been > denied but not to the host that you are trying to get to.
