Because if what you see in any way influences the software you write,
you could be violating patents, copyright, trade secrets. This is bad
even if you don't use any code or ideas from the source. If you saw it
and didn't use what you saw and wrote something nice, MS would try and
prove that you did use their IP. Also any code you wrote resulting from
you looking at that information would not be compatible with the GPL or
any other free license.
