apt-get install gnome (installs gnome and all required stuff, X, all of it) I usually start off with apt-get install fluxbox and get something small on there before I go for gnome or kde just so I can make sure my gfx is working.
apt-cache search <program name> (searches for packages, duh!) when I install a debian system, it will ask if you want to run packagesel and dselect at the end. I never do this, that way I have a bare system and then I apt-get exctally the stuff I want, not what somebody thinks I might want. Shannon Roddy wrote: > Well...
