Cooking is my hobby, a fairly common hobby down here. If you have any questions, or need a source, drop me a note. Ingredients are not usually the issue. The problem is more usually that people wonder "Just exactly how much is enough water to cover the rice?" You won't like the answer. It is: "About so much. Then they show you a finger with the level of water their favorite rice pot requires for the amount of rice they cook measured off." Or, "First you make a roux? What in the heck is a roux?" This one is easy, wheat flour, browned in oil or butter. A good deal more flour than butter. You can cheat and brown the flour in the oven with no butter or flour, but the flavor of the roux suffers a lot! And "You saute the trinity... Trinity? What is that?" Well the trinity has two meanings. The Trinity (upper case Tee) is the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. The trinity (lower case Tee) is Bell Pepper, Celery, and onion. Both are held in very high regard. Oh, and don't try to teach Americans about beer. They do not make beer here, unless it is homemade, or in a rare micro-brewery. Prohibition ruined the beer in the US. When I came back from Europe I quit drinking beer. > > And Fosters? Nah! That's the export beer. A pessimist thinks it is half empty. A realist knows that someone is going to have to wash the glass. I am a realist. I buy plastic drink cups. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
