1755 actually. I'm still pissed at the Brits. ;)

I do have a lot of French blood in my veins, BTW. My
great-great-grandfather was a construction worker on
the Eiffel Tower. That bummed him out so he sent his
son to Louisiana to farm rice. His children (7 of
them) fought in Europe during WWII because they spoke
French (the other 3 fought in the Pacific), and they
spoke with a deep respect of the French Resistance to
the Nazis. As to the Vichy government, they said
little.

BTW, if you are going to diss the French for not
supporting the War for Iraq's oil, then you should be
including Germany in there as well.
