The ethernet chipset is also broadcom (tg3), but at least its working.
One of the forums I came across made the claim that broadcom says it's hardware works in linux, but that broadcom doesn't support linux in any way, no api, nothing. This is just hearsay, of course, but I just have a bad image with them.
