We have a location in Lafayette getting a 10X10Mb LUS Fiber connection for about $75.00 including Static IP address.
We have cut the cord in some offices, however we are piggy backing through the internet with the Shoretel IP Phone system from another site that has SIP to PRI connection. In Baton Rouge unless you are located in a Fiber lit building you will have to go with a T1 connection from a previous mentioned CLEC through ATT for the last mile. But there again you are probably min cost is around$300 for a t1 depending on the location. Now one Idea and not sure if you share a building with anyone else but you might be able to piggy back on what they have. But then that could cause you possible issues down the road. ATT is trying to phase out DSL and replace with U Verse where ever they can. But DSL in my humble opinion is almost as unreliable as wireless internet connectivity... Then from a reliability only then Cable , and next a T1, but the speed of cable is so much faster than a T1 but the T1 is usually more reliable. We have replaced all but two T1's with Cable providers. The best and most reliable connection is usually Fiber but you will pay for it and it is not affordable for small office here in Baton Rouge unless in a location where it is already in your building. I think I've asked them a few years ago and they were just reselling ADSL out here. At home (off Jefferson) I can 5Mb ADSL but at the office it's 1.5Mb. Maybe I should move to Lafayette?
