Thanks Chris. That did it. I am now staring at a window called
"Term". When I enter 2+2 it returns 4. The contents of the menus look
correct.
There are two remaining issues.
When I close the Term window the terminal responds with Segmentation Fault.
I don't get the same responses as in Bill's post. E.g.,
ls -l /usr/bin/ijconsole
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 Nov 14 11:33 /usr/bin/ijconsole -> ijconsole-8.06
There is no ijconsole in /etc/alternatives but there is a jqt.
I assume that I don't have to worry about either of these issues since J
seems to be working fine.
