I believe it is reasonable to expect that a given codebase will follow a common convention. This is especially important in a ASF product, since we expect that the product will maintained over a long period of time by many different individuals. I fully support the idea that each codebase is entitled to its own conventions. I also fully support the idea that having defined conventions, we should follow them.
