That frustrates me every time I want to search the archives.
Remember two simple hyperlinks:
http://mail-archive.com/
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/
I like the second one better, it goes to a big page listing all mailing lists, and I just use my browser's search feature to jump to the appropriate mailing list hyperlink ("search 'log4j', etc").
